We make every effort to please the One who gave His all for us
In Luke 21:25-37 Jesus prophesies about His second coming back to earth at the end of the age to complete the redemption of God. Jesus is coming again, at God’s chosen time, and the whole world will see “The Son of Man (Jesus) coming in a cloud with power and glory” (vs. 27).
This is the blessed hope of the church. We await the coming of Our Lord as we see the signs throughout the world of His soon return. We want Him to come because He is our King and when we see Him we will be like Him (1 John 3:2).
Jesus warns us as His disciples to “Be on guard” (vs.34) because of His soon return. As His disciples we must be careful with our lives. We have been redeemed, having our sins forgiven and our names written in the Lamb’s Book of life. We must therefore make every effort, from hearts of thanksgiving, to please the One who gave His all for us.
The price of our redemption calls for a committed life to the cause of Christ. Jesus tells us that we must live by the Word of God that will never pass away (vs. 33), and that we must remain in prayer (vs 36).
It is through the eternal word of God and daily waiting upon God in prayer, that we receive His outpouring of grace in our souls, and receive strength given by the Holy Spirit. These daily blessings and provisions from His hand keep us ready for His soon return.
Let us seek to honor Him in everything and joyfully await our soon coming King.
God is so good!
